Ingredients We Don’t Use

Research shows cosmetics you put on your body are absorbed into the blood stream and many of the chemicals used in our cosmetic products today are not only causing sensitivity and allergies but also a risk to human health.

Vie en Rose only uses natural & pure ingredients that have healthy effects on the skin, body & mind.

Here are some of the chemicals which we believe your life will be rosier without:

Petrochemicals…..(petroleum jelly, baby products, cleansers etc):

  • 1 in 4 ingredients on market. suspect for breast cancer – Tumours in lab animals-it pollutes our water, & destroys marine life. Avoiding them is essential for humans, animals, water, land and air.
  • Ethylene oxide is a hazardous and very toxic reactant, which is classified by the International Agency for Research on Cancer (IARC) as category 2A, probably carcinogenic for humans.
  • 1,4-dioxane is an ethylene oxide-derived contaminant considered a human carcinogen by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, suspected to cause cancer & birth defects because it is a contaminant produced during manufacturing. The FDA does not require it to be listed as an ingredient on product labels and it also successfully dehydrates the skin.
  • The most common ethoxylated ingredients are: sodium laureth sulfate (SLES), ammonium laureth sulfate
    triethanolamine laureth sulfate, all ingredients with “eth” in the name eg Ceteth 20, and Ceteareth-3, all ingredients with “PEG” in the name and all the Polysorbates.

Propylene Glycol:

  • Also a petrochemical found in most face & body moisturisers. This is a humectant (attracts moisture from the air). used in anti-freeze liquid. It is acknowledged as a neurotoxin and also an irritant, allergenic & toxic causing possible liver & kidney damage.

Sulphates:

These are cleansing ingredients known as alkyl sulfates which are amongst the most harsh & irritating ingredients in cosmetics & personal care products, yet used by almost every cosmetic producer. examples are:

  1. Ammonium lauryl sulfate.
  2. Sodium lauryl sulfate

Preservatives:

  • Formaldehydes: these are the most irritating and allergy causing chemicals. Especially:DMDM hydantoin, iodopropynyl butylcarbamate, imidazolidinyl urea, diazolidinyl urea, 2-bromo-2-nitropropane-1,3 diol and quaternium 15.
  • Parabens: these are enzyme inhibitors that can stop the metabolic processes on the surface of the skin. They are irritants & allergy causing and also often added at very high percentages in the product.

Nitrosamines:

These are toxic and carcinogenic. They are formed as pollutant by-products in a number of cosmetic raw materials & within the finished product. Used often in hair products. Their presence of nitrosamines in our products is a big big concern within the cosmetics industry.

Silicones:

Used mainly in haircare. These are words ending in “cone”. Silicones dry , damage & clog hair follicles.

Trichloroethane:

Used in astringent formulas. a known carcinogen.

Triclocarban:

Mostly in deodorants & soaps– antbacterial agent. It K=kills some bacteria but not all causing flora imbalance of the body absorbed by body.

Triclosan:

Used in deodorants; This is an abacteriocide. Shown as orally toxic but still approved and has caused liver damage in lab animals.

Animal Testing:

At vie en rose we don’t use any of the above and we also do not use any artificial colours, artificial fragrances, and we do not test on animals nor do we use products which have been tested on animals.
